What qualifies as a senior quote?

"Senior Quotes" are short phrases from songs, historical figures or celebrities, or authors that graduating seniors find meaningful and want to share with the ESM community.  They are often inspirational or hold a personal meaning for the senior.

The quote is NOT just a "made up" saying.

For example, you couldn't do a quote like this: "I'm out of here!" -me.

Examples of Acceptable Quotes:

“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” – William Shakespeare

“My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, your dreams stay big, your worries stay small.”

Rascal Flatts

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” — Henry David Thoreau

These are acceptable because they are attributed to (said by) someone else.

It can't just be something you made up yourself.

The person who said it should be an author, singer, or a recognizable figure.

How to Choose a Quote that Represents You:

If you don't already have a quote in mind, there are many great websites that will give some ideas.  You might try searching for: great song lyrics, inspirational quotes, sports quotes, music quotes, literature quotes, etc…

You might want to be careful about using the search "yearbook quotes" because many of these quotes don't meet our guidelines and might not be usable.

Make sure you write down WHO SAID the quote (to whom it is attributed).

What are the Rules?

GUIDELINES/REQUIREMENTS

  • 20 words maximum

  • No Symbols or Emojis

  • Quote must be in English

  • No inappropriate language or references

  • Quotes should be your favorite quote...not something you simply made up yourself. This means they should be attributed to someone who originally said it in a speech, in literature, etc...

  • Must include attribution (who said it originally?)

The yearbook editorial staff will review all quotes and will reject your quote if you do not follow the above criteria.  This means your quote will NOT appear in the book if you do not follow the guidelines list above.

How is my quote approved and included?

1.  Your quote will be reviewed by our editorial staff including our advisers and senior class advisers.  All quotes are subject to approval by administration.
